  • Biography: John S. Thacker, Esquire is a Marital and Family Law attorney with Thacker Law Group, P.A. based out of Clearwater, Florida. His practice has been totally devoted to family law since joining the firm in January, 2008. Prior to joining, Mr. Thacker was an Assistant State Attorney in Pinellas County, Florida for 3 years working for the Honorable State Attorney Bernie McCabe. During his time at the State Attorney’s Office, Mr. Thacker was promoted to Lead Trial Attorney, assigned to Child Abuse investigations, and handled multiple jury trials on behalf of the state, including serious felony charges. Mr. Thacker’s approach to family law is focused simply upon identifying and meeting the needs of the client. In doing so, he leverages his many years of experience as an active member of the family law bar, his knowledge of the law, his professional experience with the judiciary, and his relationships with other family law-related professionals. His approach prioritizes professionalism and integrity at all stages, and direct, one-on-one involvement with the client throughout. Mr. Thacker always keeps in mind the “big picture” goal of obtaining a favorable result to any family law matter as expeditiously and cost-effectively as possible, and minimizing any adverse consequences on the members of the family, particularly young children. Frequently, the best approach to resolving a case is to work cooperatively toward an amicable settlement. However, there are times when court action is needed, and Mr. Thacker has years of litigation experience, including high conflict custody litigation and complex financial issues, to protect your interests and those of your family and children. Every case is different, and Mr. Thacker will share his advice and opinions on the appropriate strategy, and the likely result of your case, at the conclusion of the initial consultation, as well as the actions that should be taken by the client at that time to put him or her in the best possible position for success. It is important that you seek the advice of a lawyer immediately as clients often make decisions very early in a family law matter that can have serious long consequences. In addition to his extensive litigation experience, Mr. Thacker is trained in collaborative law, which is an alternative dispute resolution methodology for resolving divorce cases outside of the Court system. He also provides mediation services, both at his office in Clearwater and traveling where necessary. For many years, Mr. Thacker has volunteered at the family law clinic in St. Petersburg, Florida offering pro bono family law legal aid services for those in need. He is a member of the Florida Bar, the Clearwater Bar, and the Canakaris Inn of Court. Simply put, Mr. Thacker has the broad array of expertise and experience to guide you through your family law matter from beginning to conclusion with the utmost in professionalism and competence.
